The Marion School District in Arkansas is gaining statewide attention for its commitment to foundational literacy—and the results speak for themselves.
Recently, the district was highlighted for its use of Reading Horizons in grades K–3, a move that’s helped strengthen early reading instruction and close skill gaps. As the only district in Arkansas currently using Reading Horizons, Marion has become a model site for other educators looking to improve literacy outcomes.
“Our students need to have a strong foundation in learning how to read, and this program helps them achieve that,” said Mary Inman, literacy specialist and instructional facilitator at Marion.
In March, educators from surrounding school districts visited Marion to observe Reading Horizons lessons in action. The visiting teams spent the day in classrooms, participated in model lessons, and learned about the district’s implementation strategy.
Reading Horizons is proud to support districts like Marion that are leading the way with evidence-based reading instruction.
